It's New Years Eve, I find my self thinking of the things I want to accomplish & finish in 2015.
Last year I sorted out my quilting area ,stash & to do list. I had 22 ufo's SHOCKING!!! I'm anal about finishing projects, then I decided I was too Fat!! Spent the year loosing 60 lbs & reducing my UFO'S to 9.
But it's not enough , am continuing with both projects, finishing the last nine UFO'S &  the weight loss starts again on Mon 5th & will continue till at least another 30 or 40 lbs are gone, will stop when it feels right.
Having knee surgery in Spring! Thats enough for first 6 months! Ido want to mull over my next applique project.! Phew!!OK I told you i was anal. Ha Ha!
HAVE A HAPPY,HEALTHY & peaceful 2015.

BIRDS OF PARADISE
It seems I have been missing for a year.Have had knee trouble & will be having it replaced in the spring. Also my mum who lives in England, aged 91 had a severe heart attack & I spent time with her.She survived & in October celebrated her 92 birthday.Have quilted up a storm, three of my quilts are shown here. The
Birds of  Paradise won a 2nd place ribbon at my guild show in March this year.
I love Beatrix Potter books & have read a lot about her life, really enjoyed depicting her characters in my quilt. The Sun Bonnet Sue quilt was just fun to do.Till my next post I wish you all a happy & healthy 2015.

Another day.

Time to reveal a couple more quilts. My ''Civil War Quilt Group'' meets once a month. Each year we trade birthday blocks . In 2011 we traded split nine patches. After putting mine on the design wall & playing with different orientations,  simple seemed best ,creating four light squares. Great spot to applique Yea!!! Thanks Elly Sinkewitz for the block designs. This was so much fun to work on, small can be great!!
Civil war birthday quilt.
This next quilt ,an early one, was a special journey, again Elly's blocks. Two years in the making and I quilted it myself, after all the lovely applique the quilting was not good & rather mars what is  a lovely quilt. So the journey was more difficult as I had to accept the fact that my quilting needed a lot more practice .For a while I zeroed in on mastering the art of quilting, after many quilts lots & lots of practice 5 Years worth I feel I am no longer a learner but still need more practice , but at least I feel my quilts benefit from my quilting . Its a good feeling to be able to think i did it all.

My baltimore album.

Blogs are such fun to read getting to know other quilters . Applique is rather small in each area of our country but on the internet it is huge in numbers & WORLD WIDE!!!  till I blog again happy quilting. Jo.

This is my first blog, I have been a lurker on many blogs for a while now its time to join the world of blogging. I am a quilter passionate about hand applique. Recently I joined the west suburba chapter of ''The Applique Society '' we meet at ''The Quilt Merchant'' in Winfield Illinois owned by my friend Valorie Langue. One of my favorite quilt stores & well worth a visit. My local quilt store is ''Prairie Stitches '' owned by Kim & Sue & it is the reason I live in Oswego it's a great store filled with fabric, fun & some of my favorite people.

My first quilt I designed called "Rockets Red Glare"
My second quilt I designed is called "America the Beautiful"

Till my next post, have a great day and happy quilting
